Octane Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a Roadside Technician to provide field-based breakdown assistance from York. The role offers a solid base salary of £36,400 with opportunities to exceed £60k OTE through overtime and bonuses, reflecting a permanent, full-time position.

You will work 40 hours weekly, shifts across early mornings to late nights, with overtime options and a pension plan. A full UK driving licence and relevant qualifications are required.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification required.
• At least 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Customer-focused approach required.
• Must have a full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical roadside repairs (battery replacements, wheel changes, minor engine fixes).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible to keep members mobile.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments.

Pay / salary: £36,400 OTE: OTE: In Excess of £60,000, opportunity to earn 70-80k+

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week between 6am and 12am, Monday to Sunday. Shifts are known 12 months in advance. Flexi overtime at x1.5 and/or optional fixed overtime at £30 per hour. All hours start and stop from home as soon as you start the van.

What you’ll need to be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.
