Job summary

Cleves School in Weybridge is seeking a Welfare & Attendance Officer to lead daily first-aid operations and manage pupil attendance. The role requires strong communication with parents and staff, with experience in safeguarding and health-care plans for pupils with complex needs.

You will work within a supportive team, using SIMS and CPOMS to maintain accurate records, and contribute to safeguarding practices in line with KCSIE and HSE standards.

Cleves School is a six-form entry junior school with recent accreditation for the Inclusion Quality Mark and the Wellbeing Award.We have a rewarding and exciting opportunity for a Welfare & Attendance Officer to join our supportive and positive team. The role is to lead our daily first-aid operations and manage pupil attendance procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • First Aid & Medical Welfare: Act as the primary First Aider (HSE standards), manage the Welfare Room, administer medications, and manage Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs) for complex conditions (e.g. Diabetes, Asthma, Anaphylaxis).
  • Pastoral & Emotional Support: Provide de-escalation, calming support, and care for pupils in emotional distress, liaising with school counsellors and the DSL on safeguarding matters.
  • Attendance Management: Oversee daily attendance tracking, handle absence reporting, run early intervention initiatives, and collaborate with Surrey attendance officers and families to reduce barriers to learning.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Proven ability to act calmly, quickly, and effectively in emergency medical situations.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage sensitively with parents, staff, and external multi-agency teams.
  • Strong administrative capability with high attention to detail (experience with SIMS, CPOMS is highly desirable).
  • A robust understanding of safeguarding practices (KCSIE) and HSE First Aid regulations.
