Job summary

Fawkes & Reece in Wakefield is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to work closely with the commercial team on high-profile, multi-million pound schemes across the region.

You will provide commercial support, assist with pre-contract management, variances, valuations, and settlement of final accounts, aiming to deliver on time and within budget.

A Quantity Surveying degree, CSCS card, driving licence and sound understanding of contract law and drawings are required; a competitive package is on offer.

Qualifications

• Relevant Degree / Qualification in Quantity Surveying / Construction.
• Experience in re-measurement.
• Appropriate CSCS card.
• Valid driving licence.
• A base understanding of contract law.
• Reading and accurately interpreting drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of Pre-Contract Management and Project commercial start up procedures.
• Assist in the preparation of work package content sheets.
• Develop an understanding of the supply chain to deliver time, cost, quality and learning for all parties.
• Assisting with estimating projects (subcontract enquiries / tenders).
• Assist in the timely preparation of valuations, submissions of invoices and receipt of payment.
• Assist in the prompt preparation and settlement of final accounts.
• Identify unnecessary costs and inefficient activities.
• Contribute to CVR reports and forecasts.

Quantity Surveyor - Tier 1 Main Contractor - Build & Refurbishment

As Quantity Surveyor you will be working closely with the commercial team, reporting directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor on a range of high profile multi-million pound schemes throughout the region. You'll provide commercial support, helping to ensure projects are procured, delivered within budget and to the highest quality, whilst exceeding the expectations of our client.

Responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor

• Develop an understanding of Pre-Contract Management and Project commercial start up procedures
• Assist in the preparation of work package content sheets.
• Develop an understanding of the importance of the supply chain to deliver continuous improvement in terms of time, cost, quality and learning of all parties.
• Assisting with estimating projects (dealing with subcontract enquiries / tenders etc)
• Assist in the timely preparation of valuations, submissions of invoices and receipt of payment.
• Assist in the prompt preparation and settlement of final accounts.
• Develop an understanding of principle unit costs of resources (labour, plant and materials).
• Assist in the preparation of material wastage reconciliations.
• Identify any unnecessary costs and inefficient activities.
• Assist in the review plant and equipment schedules to ensure efficiency of use.
• Contribute to the production of accurate and timely CVR reports and forecasts.

Requirements for a Quantity Surveyor
