Job summary

Tailored Recruitment Partners Limited is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong electrical bias to join a local, family-run manufacturing business operating across Grassington and Keighley. You will ensure safe, reliable operation of plant and equipment, handling planned and reactive maintenance and continuous improvement across automated lines.

The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing, strong electrical fault-finding, PLC programming, and experience with CMMS.

Qualifications

  • Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3 / ONC Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • PLC fault-finding, repair and programming experience.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge alongside electrical expertise.
  • Experience with automated electro-mechanical manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and instrumentation-controlled systems.
  • Minimum 5 years in manufacturing/packaging/processing environment.
  • Experience in FMCG/process manufacturing is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of steam boilers and refrigeration beneficial.
  • Experience using CMMS systems.
  • Knowledge of 5S/LEAN/TPM continuous improvement approaches.
  • Understanding HACCP principles advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Complete planned maintenance and help improve maintenance practices.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Carry out day-to-day maintenance and improvements across plant, machinery, assets and services.
  • Undertake electrical fault finding and repairs.
  • Fault-find, repair and programme PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Maintain automated electro-mechanical systems.
  • Work with pneumatic, hydraulic and instrumentation-controlled systems.
  • Identify and implement improvements to increase machine efficiency and reliability.
  • Support continuous improvement projects.
  • Install and commission new equipment when required.
  • Ensure all engineering work complies with Health & Safety and food safety standards.
  • Accurately complete engineering and shift documentation.
  • Support effective stock control of engineering parts and equipment.
  • Use CMMS effectively.
  • Communicate engineering issues clearly across departments.

The Role

Working as part of the Engineering team, you will play a key role in ensuring plant, machinery and equipment operate safely, reliably and efficiently.

You will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and continuous improvement across a range of automated manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities and help develop improved maintenance practices
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical equipment faults promptly to minimise downtime

Skills & Experience

We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer who is particularly strong electrically.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • An Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 3, ONC Electrical Engineering, BTEC Level 3 Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • PLC fault-finding, repair and programming experience - this is essential
  • Strong mechanical knowledge alongside your electrical expertise
  • Experience working with automated electro-mechanical manufacturing equipment
  • Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and instrumentation-controlled systems
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience within a manufacturing, packaging or processing environment
  • Previous FMCG or process manufacturing experience
  • Experience of food manufacturing would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of facilities plant, including steam boilers and refrigeration, would be beneficial
  • Experience using CMMS systems
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques such as 5S, LEAN and TPM
  • An understanding of HACCP principles would be advantageous
