Job summary

Meridian Business Support is recruiting on behalf of a major manufacturing business for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the Doncaster site. You will maintain production equipment, reduce downtime and drive improvements across the site.

The role offers a 38-hour week, rotating 3-shift pattern with a 15% shift allowance and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or Engineering qualification (BTEC, ONC or equivalent).
• Experience as Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience in manufacturing, FMCG or other fast-paced production environments.
• Experience of planned preventive and reactive maintenance.
• Knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems, including pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Proactive with problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
• Maintain conveyors, elevators, packaging equipment and other machinery.
• Install, service and modify mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to maximise equipment performance and reliability.
• Work closely with Production teams to minimise downtime and improve efficiency.
• Complete maintenance records and ensure compliance with health, safety and quality standards.

The Role as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you'll ensure production equipment operates safely and efficiently by carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding quickly to breakdowns and supporting continuous improvement projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Maintaining conveyors, elevators, palletisers, packaging equipment and other production machinery.
• Installing, servicing and modifying mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximise equipment performance and reliability.
• Working closely with Production teams to minimise downtime and improve operational efficiency.
• Completing maintenance records and ensuring all work complies with health, safety and quality standards.

About YouWe're looking for candidates with:

• A recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or Engineering qualification (BTEC, ONC or equivalent).
• Experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or similar.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Previous experience within manufacturing, FMCG or another fast-paced production environment.
• Experience of planned preventive and reactive maintenance.
• Knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems, including pneumatics and hydraulics.
• A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, conveyors, packaging machinery or automated production equipment would be advantageous but is not essential.
