The post holder will respond to the changing demands placed upon the service to meet the clinical needs of service users, through planning, communication, innovation, standard setting and achieving results.

Deputise for the Service Manager or other Operational / Lead Biomedical Scientist(s) in pathology responsible for the planning and implementation of new methods and equipment which will require complex decision making and organisation of test repertoires, protocols, duties, and rotas for staff.

Maintain service standards at an optimum level including UKAS standards, EU Directives, UK legislation (including NHSLA, MHRA, HSE etc.), Trusts Policies and Procedures and Good

Laboratory Practice.

Process Pathology specimens and provide technically accurate results. Be professionallyaccountable for the interpretation of patients' results to enable diagnostic and treatmentregimens for clinical colleagues. In partnership with the Operational Lead Scientist, responsible for the overall management of a section or department in the laboratory to support effective and efficient service provision.

The role will be the professional lead and be responsible for all technical aspects of the provisions of an efficient and timely quality analytical service. To provide management support to the Service Manager and Clinical Lead/Director in order to ensure that the overall effective use of resources and the continued improvement in service management and delivery.
