Job summary

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust in the Tees Valley region is seeking a senior biomedical scientist to lead pathology across sections, ensuring timely, accurate results and compliance with UKAS, MHRA and NHS guidelines.

The post holder will deputise for the Service Manager, oversee complex test repertoires, staff rotas, and continuous service improvement while maintaining high standards of patient care and professional leadership.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To maintain knowledge of current scientific, professional, policy and commercial issues that may impact upon clinical service delivery working with the Head of Pathology, Service Managers, Operational Leads and Clinical Colleagues to develop future service proposals.

Facilitate service and policy development and improvements through change, best practice and service improvement and modernisation ensuring all services comply with current UKAS standards, national and European legislation, and all discipline specific regulatory bodies

Qualifications

• FIBMS and / or MSc and / or Chartered Scientist in an appropriate discipline Higher Specialist Diploma or equivalent level experience (demonstrated on application). IBMS accredited degree
• Attendance at the leadership and development and improvement programme (4.5 days). Management qualification at Maters level or equivalent or equivalent level experience (demonstrated on application).

Disclosure and Barring Checks (DBS)

It is the policy of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, that all successful candidates who are new to the Trust who require DBS clearance for the post they have been offered, are required to pay the cost for their DBS certificate. The method of payment for this is via salary deduction from your first month's pay on commencement with the Trust. The DBs check will be undertaken during the pre-employment check screening.

New Starters – Probationary Period

For any new employees commencing employment with North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, you will be subject to satisfactory completion of a 6 month probationary period.
