Job summary

Doncaster site of Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Haematology team. You will undertake a wide range of complex analytical tests and contribute to clinical diagnosis under ISO 15189 guidelines.

Suitable candidates will have Chemistry experience and be nearing completion of their registration portfolio; out-of-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist with relevant Chemistry experience.
• Experience working in Haematology or clinical laboratory setting is desirable.
• Willingness to undertake out-of-hours work as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific services to patients as an aid to clinical diagnosis.
• Perform a wide range of complex analytical procedures and validate results in line with ISO 15189.
• Comment on and communicate results to clinical teams as required.

The post holder will act as an HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist providing scientific services to patients as an aid to clinical diagnosis. The successful candidate will be required and undertake a wide range of complex analytical procedures, performing a range of manual, semi-automated and automated tests using scientific knowledge and experience to comment upon and validate results in line with ISO 15189.

Suitable candidates will require Chemistry experience and be nearing completion of their registration portfolio and ideally have experience of working out of hours.

Please also note this vacancy is banded dependent upon applicants experience relevant to this post. The banding of the successful applicant will start at Band 5 unless applicants meet the necessary threshold of skills and experience required to start on Band 6.
