Job summary

British Heart Foundation in Straiton is seeking a Warehouse Assistant to join our busy furniture store. This full-time role (35 hours) covers seven days per week, with weekend and bank holiday shifts as part of a rotating schedule. You’ll support donations processing, stock control, and a safe, efficient retail operation.

Ideal candidates are practical, team-oriented and ready to handle physical duties, while contributing to our life-saving cardiovascular research.”

What does this role involve?

Look no further - join us as a Warehouse Assistant in Straiton

The role is full time for 35 hours a week in one of our busy furniture stores. Our stores are fast-paced and trade 7 days a week. This role requires flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

Candidate must be fully flexible to work across 7 days per week including Weekends and Bank Holidays.

As a Stockroom Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of our retail operation by sorting, checking and making the most out of the variety of donations we receive behind the scenes. This is not just a standing behind the till or filling shelves type of job. Join a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and everyone works as a team to fund life-saving research.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Organising donated items and preparing them for sale / Handling and moving the delivery of furniture and appliances that arrive in our stores
• Ensuring the shop floor is always well stocked
• Working in line with safety regulations and promoting health, safety and wellbeing in everything you do
• Identifying unsaleable donations for recycling
• Keeping the stockroom organised and tidy

Please note, this role can be physical demanding and moving a high volume of donation bags / involves lifting large pieces of furniture.

You will be given lots of autonomy in your role and will strive to continually build your knowledge of BHF.

What are we looking for?

• You’ll be confident working within a team and able to guide the activity of volunteers
• You’ll work well under pressure and on your own initiative in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
