Job summary

British Heart Foundation is seeking a part-time Warehouse Assistant in Romford to support our busy furniture stores. You’ll help organise donations, move deliveries, and ensure the shop floor is stocked while working weekends and bank holidays on a rota. The role involves manual handling and lifting furniture.

Look no further - join us as a Warehouse Assistant in Romford

The role is part time for 28 hours a week in one of our busy furniture stores. Our stores are fast-paced and trade 7 days a week. This role requires flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

Candidate must be fully flexible to work across 7 days per week including Weekends and Bank Holidays. This role requires regular Sunday working.

What does this role involve?
  • Organising donated items and preparing them for sale/ Handling and moving the delivery of furniture and appliances that arrive in our stores
  • Ensuring the shop floor is always well stocked
  • Working in line with safety regulations and promoting health, safety and wellbeing in everything you do
  • Identifying unsaleable donations for recycling
  • Keeping the stockroom organised and tidy

Please note, this role can be physical demanding and moving a high volume of donation bags / involves lifting large pieces of furniture.

You will be given lots of autonomy in your role and will strive to continually build your knowledge of BHF.

What are we looking for?
  • Previous retail experience isn’t essential. If you’re an avid collector who likes to keep things neat and tidy, then we’d like to hear from you!
  • You’ll be confident working within a team and able to guide the activity of volunteers
  • You’ll work well under pressure and on your own initiative in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail in everything you do
  • Comfortable with a high level of hands on manual work that involves moving large items/volumes of stock
