Perfect Placement UK Ltd is partnering with a leading commercial vehicle dealership in Southampton to recruit an HGV Technician. The role offers a competitive salary up to £46,000 with overtime and a rotating shift pattern including evenings and weekends.

You will perform diagnostics, routine maintenance, and repairs on HGVs/LCVs, work with advanced diagnostic equipment, and ensure high safety and quality standards. Training and development are emphasised in this busy workshop.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in HGV repair or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on HGVs.
• Review job cards and follow workshop controller instructions.
• Test vehicle systems with advanced diagnostic equipment.
• Inspect vehicles for faults and perform repairs or replacements.
• Reline, adjust and replace brakes and other critical systems.
• Service air conditioning, electrical, heating and cooling systems.
• Identify faults, source parts and ensure quality standards.

Duties of the HGV Technician include:

• Receiving and reviewing job cards allocated by the workshop controller.
• Performing routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
• Testing vehicle systems using advanced diagnostic equipment.
• Examining vehicles for damage or malfunctions and executing repairs or replacements.
• Relining, adjusting, and replacing brakes and other critical systems.
• Servicing air conditioning, electrical, heating, and cooling systems.
• Identifying faults, sourcing parts, and ensuring all work meets quality standards.
• Conducting inspections and tests to evaluate vehicle safety and performance.

Requirements for the HGV Technician role:

• NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent in HGV repair, vehicle maintenance, or repair.
• Proven experience working with HGVs, LCVs, or similar commercial vehicles.
• Strong technical knowledge and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team with a proactive attitude.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Solid problem-solving ability, with a focus on quality and safety standards.
