Job summary

Blue Diamond Garden Centres is seeking a Hardy Plants Supervisor to lead our Hardy Plants Department at Percy Thrower’s Garden Centre. The role focuses on keeping the area well-stocked, beautifully presented, and delivering knowledgeable customer service.

You will support the Department Manager in maintaining retail standards, maximising sales, and driving operational excellence in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in retail or garden center
• Strong merchandising and stock-management capabilities
• Customer-focused with excellent communication skills
• Ability to work weekends and adapt to busy retail periods

Responsibilities

• Order hardy plant stock and monitor availability.
• Analyse sales reports to identify growth opportunities.
• Plan merchandising and stock rotation strategies.
• Identify slow-moving stock and take corrective actions.
• Ensure POS materials are accurate and attractively displayed.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation in the plant area.
• Create visually appealing plant displays to maximise sales.
• Provide knowledgeable advice to customers and assist with carry-to-car service.
• Use the EPOS system confidently.
• Follow up on reports and floor walks with action points.

Are you passionate about plants and retail leadership? We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Hardy Plants Supervisor to support and drive our Hardy Plants Department at Percy Thrower’s Garden Centre.

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

The Role

This is a hands-on and varied role within our plants department. You will play a key part in ensuring the Hardy Plants area is commercially successful, well-stocked, beautifully presented, and that every customer receives knowledgeable and friendly service. You will also support the Department Manager in maintaining exceptional retail standards and maximising sales.

Key Responsibilities

• Ordering hardy plant stock and monitoring availability
• Reviewing sales and performance reports to identify opportunities for growth
• Managing merchandising plans and stock rotation strategies
• Identifying and taking action on slow-moving stock
• Ensuring POS materials are accurate and displayed correctly
• Maintaining high retail and housekeeping standards across the plant area
• Creating visually appealing and inspirational plant displays to maximise sales
• Providing knowledgeable advice to customers and assisting with carry-to-car service
• Using the EPOS system confidently and accurately
• Following up on action points from reports and team floor walks

Deputy Responsibilities

• Deputising for the Department Manager during holidays and days off
• Organising daily and weekly team tasks
• Communicating updates, instructions, and guidelines from the wider plant team
• Escalating any issues or concerns to senior management
