Job summary

Ceredigion County Council Direct Payment Support Service is seeking a patient and empathetic Personal Assistant to support a 15-year-old boy with autism and learning disabilities. You will provide 1-1 care during home and community activities, including swimming, trampolining, and soft play, while encouraging inclusion and safety.

Promoting independence in the community and building trust with the family are essential.

Qualifications

• Non-verbal autism support experience preferred.
• 1-1 care at all times.

Responsibilities

• Promoting independence in the community without mum or dad and trusting another adult to support him.
• Keeping the individual safe when outside.
• Helping the individual access suitable activities in the community.
• Understanding and supporting the individual with his needs when away from home.

Job description

PA required for 15 year old male with Autism and learning disabilities. HH-SCC-001

The individual enjoys sensory activities, swimming, trampolining, soft play, wheels for all and eating out.

The individual is toilet trained but needs lots of encouragement to wash hands.

The individual needs encouragement to join in activities and 1-1 care at all times as he may wander and can become disregulated and need support.

Promoting independence in the community without mum or dad and trusting another adult to support him.

Keeping the individual safe when outside.

Helping the individual access suitable activities in the community.

Understanding and Supporting the individual with his needs when away from home.

A kind, patient and empathetic individual who understands the many challenges that come with a non verbal, autistic person.

A person who can put their all into helping and supporting the individual whilst in their care.
