Penderels Trust is seeking a compassionate care worker to support a young autistic individual in daily living activities, including personal care, meal prep, and social engagement. You will promote independence, safety, and positive communication while encouraging use of public transport when possible.
The role requires empathy, reliability, and a non-smoker preference. A DBS disclosure is required, and shifts may extend into evenings.
I am a young autistic lady with some very challenging behaviours. I have a team of PA's that allow me to live independently with 24/7 hour support. Within that, I need my staff to run my house, including washing, cleaning, dusting, etc. I like to go out every day, either for exercise or shopping and I will need help communicating with people, and situations where I am not happy. I will need you to be my advocate and talk on my behalf as I may not be able to understand or be comfortable talking to people. I will need my assistant to be able to drive but also be willing to encourage me to use public transport as much as possible. My assistant will need to be of a happy, confident and caring nature. I would prefer my carer to be a non-smoker.
Please note this is a 1year contract.
Due to the following requirements of the role, only candidates aged 18 or over should apply for this position:
The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).
