Job summary

Elysium Healthcare’s Rosebank House in Reading is seeking a Part-Time Maintenance Assistant to keep the site safe, well-maintained and welcoming for service users, staff and visitors. You will lead day-to-day maintenance, perform basic DIY and decorating, run planned checks, support health & safety audits and manage contractors for specialist works, ensuring high standards and safe operations.

There is a part-time schedule of 25 hours per week with flexible hours.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on maintenance experience and ability to perform basic repairs and decorating.
  • Experience coordinating contractors for specialist works and ensuring safety standards.
  • Awareness of health & safety practices and audits.
  • DBS disclosure is part of the recruitment process.

Job description

Join Rosebank House in Reading as a Part-Time Maintenance Assistant, where you will take the lead in keeping the site safe, well-maintained, and welcoming for some of the most vulnerable people in society.

This is a hands-on role covering all aspects of general site maintenance. You’ll be responsible for day-to-day repairs, basic DIY and decorating, planned maintenance checks, health & safety audits, and overseeing the upkeep of the gardens and outdoor areas. You’ll also manage contractors for specialist work, ensuring everything on site is safe, compliant, and kept to a high standard.

This is a part-time position working

25 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 2:00pm with

flexibility on how these hours are worked

, which can be discussed during the hiring process.

As the lead for maintenance at Rosebank House, you’ll be the go-to person for all building and site-related matters, working closely with the wider team to provide a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for service users, staff, and visitors.

There is a requirement to complete a

fully paid one-week induction, with travel expenses covered.

You will be working at Rosebank House, a 24 hour specialist care and support service for people with severe and enduring mental health needs. People who come to Rosebank House have normally come from a hospital environment or have been sectioned under the Mental Health Act (1983).

You will be working at the modern, purpose-built home with 13 en-suite bedrooms, it is specifically designed with facilities to fully prepare patients for independence in the community. The focus of the service is on independent living skills as well as social inclusion, education and employment engagement. There are close links with the local community for residents to access local college, work placements and amenities.
