Job summary

Sodexo Ltd at Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital is seeking a Ward Host/Hostess to deliver meals with care to patients, staff and visitors. You will take orders, note dietary requirements, assemble trays and ensure safe, hygienic service.

The role is permanent, 30 hours per week, with shifts 5 days out of 7 including weekends, and shifts between 7:00 am and 9:00 pm. Benefits apply and uniform is provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in catering, hospitality, healthcare or customer service.
• A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Excellent customer service skills with a caring, friendly and respectful approach.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with patients, visitors and colleagues.
• Strong attention to detail, especially with dietary requirements and documentation.
• Ability to stay organized and manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible, reliable attitude with commitment to hygiene, safety and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals, snacks and refreshments to patients and visitors with care and professionalism.
• Take food and drink orders accurately, recording dietary requirements and allergies.
• Assemble and deliver meal trays safely and promptly, assisting patients as needed.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, infection prevention and cleanliness.
• Clean and sanitise crockery and catering equipment in line with procedures.
• Monitor stock levels, rotate supplies, minimise waste and complete records.
• Collaborate with ward teams to provide friendly, high-quality service.

What You’ll Do:

What You Bring:

• Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, healthcare or customer service environment.
• A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one if required).
• Excellent customer service skills with a caring, friendly and respectful approach.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients, visitors and colleagues.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling dietary requirements, food safety and documentation.
