b3 jobs ltd is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for its Wigan site. You’ll maintain and improve manufacturing equipment, fault-find electrical and mechanical issues, and support continuous improvement across production lines to maximize uptime and efficiency.

The role operates on three rotating shifts with a salary up to £45,000 plus benefits, including 21 days holiday, pension, and training programmes.

Qualifications

• Relevant engineering qualifications and experience, ideally with an electrical bias.
• Experience and knowledge of PLC fault finding and diagnostic skills.
• Strong analytical, planning, coordination, and communication skills.
• Experience in FMCG / food manufacturing operations.
• Resilient and flexible, able to work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and responding to equipment breakdowns to maximise production uptime.
• Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults across production machinery, utilities, and site services.
• Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities to enhance reliability, performance, safety, and efficiency.
• Supporting engineering projects and equipment installations as required.
• Ensuring full compliance with food safety, quality, hygiene, environmental, and health & safety standards.

About the Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer job

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining and improving the company’s manufacturing operations, ensuring equipment runs safely, efficiently, and reliably.

This is a hands-on role where you'll combine fault-finding expertise with proactive maintenance and continuous improvement activities to keep the manufacturing operation performing at its best.

Key tasks

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and responding to equipment breakdowns to maximise production uptime.

The Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer job is based in Wigan and is paying up to £45,000 (including shift premiums and overtime) according to your experience.

The extensive benefits package includes 21 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension, Investment in People and Training, Wellbeing and Engagement Programmes and company sickness pay.

The role is based on three rotating shifts:

• 1. Monday to Friday / 6am to 2pm - for 2 weeks
• 2. Monday to Thursday / 1.30pm to 10pm - for 2 weeks, Friday / 9am to 3pm - 1 week
• 3. Sunday to Thursday / 10pm – 6am - 1 week only

The company is based in Wigan and is commutable from Bolton, Chorley, Skelmersdale, Warrington, Manchester and Liverpool.
