Ysgol Calon y Dderwen invites applications for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our Treowen Campus in Newtown. The role is fixed term until August 31st 2027 and 31.75 hours per week during term time.

You will work one-to-one and in small groups, supporting pupils to make progress and developing social, emotional and academic skills, in collaboration with teachers and senior leaders. We value motivation, reliability and a positive sense of humour, and we expect you to maintain high standards

SY16 1NJ Level 3 Teaching Assistant (31.75 hours)Fixed Term (until August 31st 2027) in the first instanceBased predominantly on our Treowen CampusYsgol Calon y Dderwen is a split campus, English-medium Community Primary School situated in the picturesque Mid-Wales market town of Newtown. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our family at Calon y Dderwen. The Teaching Assistant would start in November 2026 and work 31.75 hours per week (term time only).The successful candidate will be highly motivated and able to form excellent relationships with children, working in partnership with Senior Leaders and class teachers. They will also have high standards of work ethic in terms of motivation, presentation, punctuality, professionalstandards and team work and have a positive sense of humour.

Key Responsibilities:

• One to one and small group work
• Deliver engaging, well thought out sessions that suit the specific needs of the children.
• To support individual children in lessons to make progress relative to the rest of the class across all years
• Provide support and encouragement to children.
• To liaise regularly with the class teacher and Head teacher to ensure that targets are being met.
• To work with professionals to gain an understanding of the needs and develop strategies for effective teaching and management of children.
• Work with the school's agreed behaviour policy to anticipate and manage behaviour constructively, promoting self-control and independence.
• Develop children's social, emotional, behavioural and academic needs and possibly have previous experience in this area.

The successful applicant will have a clear understanding of how to enhance learning, will have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated staff team.The closing date for applications is: Friday 25th September
