Job summary

Llangiwg Primary School in Pontardawe is seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. The role supports teaching and learning across Nursery to Year 6 in a warm, inclusive environment.

You will work with class teachers to deliver engaging lessons, support individuals and small groups including those with ALN, and help create a nurturing learning space. This is 27.5 hours per week over 39 weeks, term-time only, start ASAP.

Qualifications

  • Hold a recognised Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Substantial experience with primary-aged children across a range of age groups.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different classes, year groups and pupil needs.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning across Nursery to Year 6.
  • Work with class teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive learning experiences.
  • Provide support to individual pupils and small groups, including those with ALN.
  • Contribute to creating a positive, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
  • Promote pupils' independence, wellbeing, confidence and social development.
  • Support the implementation of behaviour and learning strategies as directed by teaching staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents/carers and external agencies where appropriate.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning resources and classroom activities.

  • Salary: Grade 3 SCP (3 - 5) £16,447.77 to £16,969.83 (term time only). Candidates appointed after 1 September will be subject to a term time recalculation, with salary adjusted proportionately to reflect the remaining working weeks in the academic year.

The Successful Candidate Will:
  • Hold a recognised Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Have substantial experience of working with primary-aged children across a range of age groups
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly and effectively to different classes, year groups and pupil needs
  • Have experience supporting pupils with a range of learning needs, including Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
  • Be patient, caring and able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
  • Demonstrate flexibility, resilience and a proactive approach to supporting learning
  • Be an excellent team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
