Job summary

St Michael's School in Aldbourne is seeking a Teaching Assistant on a 1-year fixed term contract. The role involves supporting a child with additional needs on a 1:1 basis, and assisting the class teacher with group activities and lesson delivery.

Lunchtime supervision is also part of the duties. Applicants should be passionate about children’s learning, able to work under direction, and demonstrate teamwork, adaptability and excellent communication.

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our strong, friendly and motivated staff team, on a 1 year fixed term contract.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work under the direction of the class teacher. Your main duty will be to support a child with additional needs, on a 1:1 basis. As a TA at St Michael's, you may also work with groups of children, supporting the needs of individual children and supporting the class teacher in delivering lessons, as well as lunchtime supervision of children. The person may also be required to administer first aid (formal training will be provided). We invite applications from individuals who:

  • Previous experience of working with children, knowledge of child development/how children learn and experience of supporting children with SEND would be an advantage, but not essential.
