Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd. seeks a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service and repair vehicles at customer locations across the United Kingdom. You will handle routine maintenance, diagnostics, and complex repairs, including EVs, with a focus on quality and customer service.

The role is full-time, home-based with 40 hours per week, typically 8am–8pm, Monday to Saturday on a 1-in-4 Saturday rota. Overtime, bonuses, and progression opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualifications.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.
• Ability to work independently and communicate with customers.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at customer locations (including EVs).
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tires, and brakes inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools/software to identify and resolve issues.
• Communicate repair needs and recommendations to customers.
• Process payments via card transactions.
• Keep up-to-date with automotive tech and repair techniques.
• Maintain accurate work and parts records.

Pay / salary: £40,170 basic plus overtime (£29 per hour) and bonus enabling earnings in excess of £52,000

Job type: Permanent / Full time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, across 5 days (Monday to Saturday) 8am – 8PM, working 1 in 4 Saturdays.

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

What you’ll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• - Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• - Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• - The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
