Job summary

Meadowbrook School in Long Eaton is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with autism and other special educational needs. The role involves assisting with educational and social development, both inside and outside the classroom, and providing learning support under the guidance of teaching staff.

You will work with students 1:1 or in small groups, helping to create an engaging, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children with behavioural support needs and strategies.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C or higher, or equivalent.
• Willingness to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification.

Responsibilities

What you'll get to do:

• Assisting students in their educational and social development.
• Provide support inside and outside of the classroom, so they can fully engage in a wide range of activities.
• Help to set up activities for students, using technology or adjusting the environment to suit their needs.
• Support teachers, engaging with students, providing learning support, and reacting to situations in the classroom in a positive, non-disruptive manner.
• Working 1:1 with some students, to give them the time and support they need to learn.

What we're looking for from you:

• Experience of working with children who have behavioural support needs with a good knowledge of behavioural management techniques and strategies.
• Grade C or above GCSE in English and Math, or L1/2 equivalent functional skills qualification.
• Hold or be willing to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification.
