Job summary

Sodexo Ltd is seeking a Cleaning Operative in Dyffryn, Conwy to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for staff, pupils and visitors. The role focuses on routine cleaning across classrooms, offices and communal spaces, following COSHH requirements and health and safety standards.

You’ll be part of a team delivering reliable cleaning services, with a pattern that starts from 3:30pm and involves a 20‑hour week.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar cleaning role with COSHH knowledge.
• Strong communication and customer service skills in a polite, professional manner.
• Ability to work efficiently, manage time and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine cleaning tasks at the scheduled time following policies and COSHH.
• Maintain high cleanliness standards in all areas including classrooms and offices.
• Empty bins, collect refuse, and restock soap, towels and toilet tissue.
• Use approved cleaning products and equipment safely as trained.
• Undertake cleaning duties with PPE and hazard signage where appropriate.
• Clean floors, furnishings, equipment, windows and mirrors to standard.
• Respond to ad-hoc cleaning requests on site as required.
• Be courteous and provide excellent customer care for staff, pupils and visitors.
• Work with others to maintain consistent standards across the school.
• Take steps to minimise loss or damage and maintain a safe environment.

**Equated pay (sometimes known as spread-over pay) is a method of paying you for your contracted hours, working weeks and holiday pay spread over 12 months instead of just receiving pay during the months that you work and none during the school closures/non-working weeks. This means that you get paid equal amounts of pay every month. Further information will be supplied at interview stage.**

What You’ll Do:

• Carry out routine cleaning tasks at the scheduled time, following all relevant policies, procedures and COSHH requirements.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across communal areas, classrooms, offices, toilets, changing rooms and specialist spaces.
• Empty bins, collect and move refuse, and restock consumables such as soap, paper towels and toilet tissue.
• Use only approved cleaning products, equipment and materials safely and efficiently, in line with training provided.
• Undertake cleaning duties safely, using PPE and hazard signage where appropriate.
• Clean floors, furnishings, equipment, windows and mirrors to the required standard.
• Respond to ad‑hoc cleaning requests on site when required.
• Be courteous, helpful and efficient, ensuring excellent customer care for staff, pupils and visitors.
• Work collaboratively with other cleaning staff to maintain consistent standards across the school.
• Take reasonable steps to minimise loss or damage to property and maintain a safe working environment.

What You Bring:

• Previous experience in a similar cleaning role, with knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, COSHH and safe working practices.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, with a polite and professional manner.
• The ability to work efficiently, manage your time and adapt to changing priorities or requests throughout the day.
