Job summary

Sodexo Ltd is recruiting a Cleaning Operative at Ysgol John Bright in Llandudno. The role involves routine cleaning, keeping classrooms, offices, toilets and shared spaces hygienic while following COSHH requirements. It is a term-time, part-time position with a 16.25 hour week and a pattern from Friday to Thursday, 3pm to 6:15pm.

You will earn £12.71 per hour with equated pay spread over 12 months, providing a stable monthly income while supporting a safe school environment for staff and pupils.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar cleaning role.
• Knowledge of COSHH and safe working practices.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work well in a team and maintain high standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine cleaning at scheduled times following policies and COSHH.
• Maintain cleanliness in classrooms, offices, toilets and shared areas.
• Empty bins and restock consumables such as soap and towels.
• Use approved products and PPE safely; follow training.
• Clean floors, furnishings, windows and mirrors to standard.
• Respond to ad hoc cleaning requests on site.
• Be courteous and provide good customer care for staff and pupils.
• Work with colleagues to maintain consistent school standards.
• Minimise loss or damage and keep a safe environment.

Equated pay (sometimes known as spread-over pay) is a method of paying you for your contracted hours, working weeks and holiday pay spread over 12 months instead of just receiving pay during the months that you work and none during the school closures/non-working weeks. What You’ll Do:

• Carry out routine cleaning tasks at the scheduled time, following all relevant policies, procedures and COSHH requirements.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across communal areas, classrooms, offices, toilets, changing rooms and specialist spaces.
• Empty bins, collect and move refuse, and restock consumables such as soap, paper towels and toilet tissue.
• Use only approved cleaning products, equipment and materials safely and efficiently, in line with training provided.
• Undertake cleaning duties safely, using PPE and hazard signage where appropriate.
• Clean floors, furnishings, equipment, windows and mirrors to the required standard.
• Respond to ad‑hoc cleaning requests on site when required.
• Be courteous, helpful and efficient, ensuring excellent customer care for staff, pupils and visitors.
• Work collaboratively with other cleaning staff to maintain consistent standards across the school.
• Take reasonable steps to minimise loss or damage to property and maintain a safe working environment.

What You Bring:

• Previous experience in a similar cleaning role, with knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, COSHH and safe working practices.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, with a polite and professional manner.
• The ability to work efficiently, manage your time and adapt to changing priorities or requests throughout the day.
