Job summary

Ashbourne Day Nurseries Limited is seeking a part-time Nursery Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team at Millards Grange, Houghton Regis. Ashbourne Day Nurseries is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Nursery Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team. About Us

At Ashbourne Day Nurseries, we provide high-quality care and education for children in a warm, nurturing, and stimulating environment. Since 2008, we've grown from our first nursery in Oxley Park, Milton Keynes, into a group of unique nurseries based in a variety of settings - from purpose-built spaces to listed buildings.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and recognise that healthy, balanced meals are a vital part of a child's early development. Our kitchen team plays an important role in supporting children's well-being every day.

Your Role as a Nursery Kitchen Assistant

As a Nursery Kitchen Assistant, you will support the Nursery Chef in the preparation and service of fresh, healthy, and age-appropriate meals and snacks. You will help ensure the kitchen runs smoothly and safely, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in line with food safety and health & safety regulations.

What You'll Be Doing

• Assisting with the preparation of healthy meals and snacks for children
• Supporting the Nursery Chef at another nursery site with food preparation and meal service
• Helping to maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment
• Washing up, cleaning equipment, and ensuring all kitchen areas are kept tidy
• Assisting with stock rotation and basic food storage checks
• Supporting the catering of children with allergies or specific dietary requirements, following guidance
• Working closely with nursery staff to support mealtimes and routines
• Following all food hygiene, health & safety, and safeguarding procedures

About You

• An interest in food preparation and children's nutrition
• Some experience working in a kitchen or food preparation environment (desirable but not essential)
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety, or willingness to undertake trainingA reliable, organised, and hardworking approach
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• A positive, flexible, and can-do attitude
