Job summary

Childbase Partnership Limited at Linmere Day Nursery, Linmere, Houghton Regis, LU5, is opening a brand-new nursery and seeks a Kitchen Assistant to join as a founding team member.

You will help prepare healthy meals for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, work alongside the Nursery Cook, and contribute to routines, hygiene standards and safeguarding. This permanent role offers 37.5 hours per week and a competitive salary with generous benefits.

Qualifications

  • Professional catering experience enabling meals from a set-menu.
  • Knowledge of COSHH, allergens and manual handling.
  • Maintains high hygiene standards in kitchen (5-star).
  • Safeguarding responsibilities for children's well-being and dietary needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing meals for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.
  • Work with Nursery Cook to establish routines and standards.
  • Maintain hygiene and safety in kitchen to 5-star standards.
  • Support safeguarding and dietary needs of children.
  • Take full responsibility for food preparation in absence of the cook.

Role: Kitchen Assistant | Preparing meals for children aged 6 weeks-5 years old.
Location: Linmere Day Nursery | Linmere, Houghton Regis | LU5.
Contract:Permanent | 37.5 hours/week | 52 weeks/year.
Working pattern: Varied shifts Monday-Friday between 07:30-18:30.
Salary: £25,096.50 per annum (pro-rata) | £12.87 per hour.

A brand-new Childbase nursery is opening, and we're looking for a Kitchen Assistant to become one of our founding team members.

About you

  • You are passionate about preparing wholesome, healthy meals: You have professional catering experience which will enable you to contribute towards the preparation of a range of meals from a set-menu, using fresh ingredients.
  • You are diligent: Your knowledge of COSHH, allergens and manual handling alongside your experience working in a professional kitchen environment will ensure you effectively contribute towards maintaining 5-star hygiene standards within the kitchen.
  • You are an advocate for safeguarding:You will ensure the well-being and dietary needs of every child are met.
  • You are collaborative: In partnership with the Nursery Cook, you will promote healthy eating, build respectful relationships with colleagues, children and parents and resume full responsibility for all food preparation and cooking tasks in the absence of the cook.
