Job summary

Veolia is seeking an Operational Performance Engineer in Horsham to provide 24/7 remote monitoring, control, and front-line support for the national CHP fleet. You will diagnose faults remotely, adjust parameters, and coordinate with field engineers while ensuring clear communication with customers.

The role requires strong analytical skills, power generation knowledge, and proficiency with Google Suite and Excel. A 24/7 shift pattern applies in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Education: HNC or equivalent in engineering, preferably with exposure to power generation.
• Digital & IT Tools: Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Excel; Access/Power BI beneficial.
• Technical Knowledge: Electrical and/or mechanical understanding related to power generation.
• Core Competencies: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and clear communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Remote Monitoring & Control: investigate faults, reset systems, adjust parameters and escalate as needed.
• Engineer & Customer Support: handle 24/7 inbound calls from field engineers and customers for quick resolution.
• Reporting & Data Analysis: produce KPI, performance and availability reports for management and customers.
• Shift Operations: work in a 24/7 rotating shift team with smooth handovers and task tracking.
• Adhering to written procedures when carrying out tasks.

Salary: Competitive salary plus Veolia benefits

Hours: 4 on 4 off 12 hour shift pattern of 2 days and 2 nights, 7 rotations of these followed by 18 days scheduled holiday. Training on days for 4 weeks

Role Summary

The OPC Service Desk Engineer provides critical 24/7 remote monitoring, technical control, and front-line support across our national Combined Heat and Power (CHP) fleet. In this role, you will act as the primary technical point of contact-diagnosing faults remotely, adjusting operational parameters, coordinating with field engineers, and ensuring high-quality communication with customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Remote Monitoring & Control: Investigate plant faults, perform system resets, adjust operational parameters, and manage fault escalation.
• Engineer & Customer Support: Professional handling of 24/7 inbound calls from field engineers and customers to ensure rapid issue resolution.
• Reporting & Data Analysis: Produce accurate KPI, performance, and availability reports for management and customers.
• Shift Operations: Work effectively as part of a 24/7 rotating shift team, maintaining seamless shift handovers and clear task tracking.
• Adhering to written procedures when carrying out tasks

Qualifications & Essential Skills

• Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial
• Education: HNC standard (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, preferably with exposure to power generation.
• Digital & IT Tools: Proficient in both Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Workspace) and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Microsoft Access and Power BI would be beneficial.
• Technical Knowledge: Electrical and/or mechanical understanding, ideally in relation to power generation.
• Core Competencies: Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and clear verbal and written communication.
