Fawkes & Reece is seeking a Senior Site Manager for a large UK school build on a freelance basis. You will lead from start to finish, including piling, steel frame, facade, roofing and fit-out, reporting to the on-site Senior Project Manager.

Immediate start on a circa £80m project with a dedicated site team. Expect high responsibility, strong stakeholder engagement, and robust safety & RAMS governance on a complex multi-block development.

Qualifications

• SMSTS required.
• CSCS card required.
• First Aid at Work qualification required.

Responsibilities

• Attending and contributing in contractor pre-start meetings.
• Attending and contributing in design team meetings.
• Chairing weekly sub-contractor progress meetings and issuing minutes.
• Attending safe starts and reviewing RAMS.
• Participating in DABs and coordinating with other trades.

Job description

I've been tasked to find a Senior Site Manager for a reputable main contractor on a freelance basis. It is an immediate start and will finish in Feb '28.

The project is a new build school worth circa £80m, including a new car park. It consists of building a primary school, secondary school and sixth form. You will building from the start to finishing including, piling, steel frame structure, facade, roofing and then fit out. The school is steel frame with a brick work façade. Once the external packages are completed you will be required to fit out the classrooms etc.

You'll be reporting to an on site Senior Project Manager and work in alongside another permanently employed Senior Site Manager.

Responsibilities for the Senior Site Manager

• Attending and contributing in contractor pre start meetings.
• Attending and contributing in design team meetings.
• Chairing weekly sub-contractor progress meetings, taking and issuing meeting minutes.
• Attending safe starts.
• Approving RAMS.
• Attending DABS and contributing to the meeting, discussing coordination with other trades. If necessary taking the meeting, issuing the DABS report to all other team members.
• Identifying potential problems, offering buildability solutions.
• Someone who is tech savvy.
• Someone who can engage with the supply chain and other team members.
