Job summary

Fawkes & Reece is seeking a Senior Site Manager for a reputable main contractor on a freelance basis. Immediate start on a £80m new build school in Essex, including a car park, with the secondary school comprising a three-storey steel frame and brick facade, moving into fit-out and finishes, finishing in March 2028.

You will report to the on-site Senior Project Manager, mentor junior site staff, chair weekly progress meetings, review RAMS and drawings, coordinate handover, snagging, and

Qualifications

• SMSTS qualification required.
• CSCS card held.
• First Aid at Work certification.

Responsibilities

• Attending and contributing in contractor pre start meetings.
• Attending and contributing in design team meetings.
• Chairing weekly sub-contractor progress meetings, taking and issuing meeting minutes.
• Attending safe starts.
• Approving RAMS.
• Review drawings, specifications, method statements, risk assessments, and construction information.
• Attending DABs and contributing to the meeting, discussing coordination with other trades.
• Identifying potential problems, offering buildability solutions.
• Someone who is tech savvy.
• Someone who can engage with the supply chain and other team members.
• Coordinate handover, snagging, completion, and close-out activities.
• Mentor and develop junior site managers, engineers, supervisors, and other site personnel.

Job description

I’ve been tasked to find a Senior Site Manager for a reputable main contractor on a freelance basis. It is an immediate start and will finish in March 2028.

The project is a new build school worth circa £80m, including a new car park. It consists of building a primary school, secondary school and sports hall. You will building the secondary school which consists of a three storey steel frame structure and brick facade. Moving into the fit out and finishes.

You’ll be reporting to an on site Senior Project Manager and work in alongside another permanently employed Senior Site Manager who is building the primary school and sports hall.

• Coordinate handover, snagging, completion, and close-out activities.
• Mentor and develop junior site managers, engineers, supervisors, and other site personnel.
