Job summary

CareTech is recruiting at Annie's in Dumfries, a 3-bed residential home supporting three young people. The role involves leading a shift pattern of 2 on, 4 off with overnight sleep-ins, helping with school routines, meals, appointments and planned activities while ensuring a safe, caring environment.

You'll supervise staff, build trusting relationships, document records in an electronic system, and be the first point of contact for the team.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a similar role is required.
• Must be comfortable supervising staff to ensure high standards of care.
• Full UK Manual driving licence required.
• Overnight sleep-in shifts are part of the pattern.

Job description

Located in Dumfries with a 2 on/4 off shift pattern which includes overnight sleep-ins at the service.

£37,350 to £38,325 per year (includes base salary + estimated sleep-in allowances)

Plus £67.50 per sleep-in. Based on a standard 10 sleep-ins per month, you will top up your earnings by £8,100 annually.

A full UK Manual driving licence is required and we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.

What You’ll Do

As a senior member of our support staff you will not only support our young people with their daily routines, getting them ready for school, prepping for meal times, accompanying them to appointments, and planning activities etc, but you will also support your team. Ensuring you oversee the safe running of the shift and that the children and staff are supported throughout. To do this the right way, we'll need you to…

• Help create a warm, homely environment by helping with light housekeeping when the children are out/engaged
• Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support, break down those barriers
• Day shifts with overnight sleep-ins so you will be away from your own home for 2 days/nights at a time
• Ensure the smooth running of the shift, supporting your team and our children
• Plan and join in with fun activities, trips to the park, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects and hobbies
• Be the first point of contact for your team and ensure management is kept up to date with related matters
• Keep positive, even on challenging days - staying positive on a tough day is a win for both sides
• Keep essential records up to date to ensure the best possible care and share ideas with your team mates
• You must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young people’s records accurately - we will train you

Annie's is a beautiful 3 bed residential home in Dumfries, which is registered to support 3 young people. We focus on activities that promote the health and wellbeing of our young people, guiding them through the next stages in their life and being a safe space for them to express themselves and grow.

Who You Are

Warm, patient, a great listener who stays positive and focused on achieving outcomes for others. Previous experience of working with children in a similar role is required. You should be comfortable with supervising staff to ensure all care provided is of the highest standard. There will be an aspect of personal care involved in the role at this service.
