Job summary

Ceredigion County Council Direct Payment Support Service is seeking a part-time Residential Care Worker to mentor young people in a five-bedroom home. You will assist with daily living, schoolwork and life skills, and accompany youths to health and education appointments.

The role includes early and late shifts (7:30‑3:15 and 2:45‑10:30) with enhancements for unsocial hours, Sundays/Bank Holidays, standby and sleep-ins. 18.5 hours weekly, with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties preferred.
• Ability to work varied shifts including weekends.
• Background in care or education is advantageous but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day life, schoolwork and life skills.
• Accompany young people to health and education appointments.
• Organise and participate in days out to cinemas, shops or theme parks to create positive experiences.
• Promote a family-like atmosphere by sharing meals and building positive relationships.
• Utilise personal hobbies or skills to enrich residents' experiences.

Job description

Are you looking for a varied, challenging and rewarding part time position where you can help and mentor young people?

You will be working in a five-bedroom residential home, helping young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties to achieve positive outcomes. You will work a mixture of early and late shifts and alternative weekends with enhancements paid on top of the basic hourly rate for any unsocial hours, Sunday/ Bank Holiday working, standby and sleep ins. 7.30am-3.15pm early shift. 2.45pm-10.30pm late shift. There is also an opportunity for overtime.

This is a part time opportunity of 18.5 hours and the hourly basic salary would be £13.44 - £14.45

What will you be doing?

The role includes supporting with day-to-day life, schoolwork, life skills where applicable, accompanying our Young People to health, education and other appointments.

There are also days out to the cinema, shopping or even theme parks and holidays as we try and create positive experiences for our young people.

We are a small home so we encourage a "family feel" where possible, this involves eating our meals together, creating positive relationships and supporting our residents through key work.

If you have particular skills or hobbies, such as fishing, cooking, fitness, that might enrich our young people's experience then there's an opportunity to use these.
