Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) is seeking a Painter & Decorator to join the Facilities Maintenance Team at HMP Portland. You will work on painting and decorating tasks within a secure environment, collaborating with plumbers, electricians, carpenters, cleaners and administrators to ensure a safe and well-maintained facility.

The role is permanent and full-time, with a 39-hour week (Mon-Fri). You will need a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3 in painting & decorating or equivalent, and prior

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team at HMP Portland, a category C adult male and YOI prison.

As a Painter & Decorator you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and Administrators, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a Painter & Decorator with a combination of:

• A City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting and decorating or equivalent (or significant experience/time served in a similar role)
• Experience working in a maintenance team
• An honest and reliable character, who can approach their work with a sense of purpose and pace
• Good Health & Safety knowledge
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
