Job summary

Government Facility Services Ltd (GFSL) is seeking a dedicated Painter & Decorator for HMP Winchester on a permanent basis. The role is 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based at Romsey Rd, Winchester.

You will join a professional facilities maintenance team responsible for keeping prison buildings safe and well-maintained, with a focus on high-quality painting and decorating work and adherence to health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3 in Painting and decorating or equivalent (or significant experience/time served in a similar role)
• Experience working in a maintenance team
• An honest and reliable character

Job Role: Painter and Decorator

Location: HMP Winchester, Romsey Rd, Winchester. SO22 5DF

Salary: £35,229.91 per annum (includes £3500 location bonus per annum)

Contract: Permanent - 39hrs per week - Mon-Fri

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team at HMP Winchester, a Category C, adult male prison.

As a Painter & Decorator you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and Administrators, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a Painter & Decorator with a combination of:

• A City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting and decorating or equivalent (or significant experience/time served in a similar role)
• Experience working in a maintenance team
• An honest and reliable character, who can approach their work with a sense of purpose and pace
• Good Health & Safety knowledge
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
