Job summary

CAF Rail UK, based at Chester Traincare Centre, seeks a maintenance technician to perform planned and unplanned maintenance on rolling stock. You will work day shifts on a 4 days in, 4 days off pattern and ensure safety procedures are followed.

Ideal candidates hold NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, have railway experience or training, and can fault-find using test equipment. A valid driver’s licence and commitment to quality are essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
• Previous railway experience or training provided.
• Fault finding and root cause analysis experience.
• Use of test and measuring equipment.
• Experience with mechanical and electrical components servicing.
• Valid Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out work as allocated by the Team Leader or Production Manager within set timescales and to the recognised standards.
• Ensure that safety procedures and documents are adhered to.
• Ensure that work sheets are signed off promptly and correctly on completion of work by the Production Manager or Depot Manager.
• Participate in meetings to resolve problems and continually improve all aspects of the job.
• Play an active role in training and development.
• Ensure that local procedures and Railway Group Standards are followed in relation to rolling stock movement.
