Job summary

Network Rail in Orpington is seeking a Technician - Welding & Grinding to support the Welding & Grinding team. You will perform precision welding, grinding, fault correction, and preventative maintenance, while occasionally leading the team in safe, efficient delivery.

The role is safety-critical, with day, night and weekend shifts; outdoor work in all weather. A valid driving licence is required, and you must live within commuting distance of your depot. Comprehensive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Ability to plan and implement safe systems of work.
• Experience with welding and grinding for rail maintenance.
• Competencies for the role or willingness to achieve them, NVQ level 1/2 preferred.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to drive.

Responsibilities

• Deliver work safely in line with approved procedures.
• Carry out welding and grinding to maintain rail integrity.
• Diagnose faults and perform corrective maintenance on track components.
• Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and fit for use.
• Accurately report completed work and keep records.
