Job summary

Network Rail in Northampton is seeking a Site Based Maintenance Technician to join our depot team. You will carry out work safely under our safe systems of work, support daily rail maintenance, and help ensure passengers and freight stay moving.

You will develop your skills in a diverse, inclusive workplace, with opportunities to lead others, control quality, and contribute to a connected railway network across the region.

Qualifications

• Experience of arranging and implementing safe systems of work.
• Ideally hold (or be working towards) an NVQ level 1 or 2 (or equivalent).
• Hold and retain competencies relevant to this post.

Responsibilities

• Carry out work safely and in accordance with safe systems of work and relevant instructions.
• Undertake and direct work activities in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with standards.
• Establish safety arrangements for staff under your control including Contractors.
• Check competencies of staff under your control and ensure vehicles, plant, tools and materials are fit for use.
• Accurately report work completed and maintain records as required.
• Able to lead, motivate and direct a team; communicate effectively.
