Job summary

Babcock is seeking a Rail Track Assistant to join the on-site team at Cadder Yard in Glasgow. The role involves hands-on support for track renewal and maintenance, following safe systems of work and contributing to reliable rail operations.

The position is full-time, permanent, with a 35-hour week across days, nights, weekends, and shifts. You will work with an experienced operations team to deliver track renewal activities, learn new skills, and comply with railway rules and safety

Qualifications

• Strong team player with good communication skills.
• Safety-minded mindset and willingness to follow procedures.
• Ability to take instruction and work effectively in an operational environment.
• Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training.
• Ability to drive or have willingness to learn driving.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of track renewal and maintenance work on site.
• Follow instructions from Supervisors and Senior Track Assistants.
• Use tools and small plant equipment safely and correctly.
• Carry out general site duties to support rail operations.
• Work in line with railway rules, regulations, and health & safety requirements.
