Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Design Engineer to support London Underground projects focused on telecoms and network solutions. The role is hybrid, with a minimum of two days per week at the Waterloo office, and involves designing, estimating, and planning work packages for bids, projects and services.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable, reliable solutions while adhering to project timelines, standards, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in telecoms engineering environment.
• Ability to design buildable and maintainable solutions.
• Ability to manage design through a defined process.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and safety considerations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into designs.
• Produce designs using industry best practices and tools.
• Ensure designs meet customer requirements, standards and legislation.
• Identify technical debt and performance bottlenecks.
• Work with other engineering disciplines to deliver projects.
• Follow Hitachi Rail design processes and project plans.
• Escalate issues to the Senior Design Engineer when needed.
• Provide status reports to the Senior Design Engineer.
