Job summary

Morson Group in Goole is recruiting a Train Shunter to join the Logistics Movements team. This role focuses on the safe control and movement of traction and rolling stock within a private rail facility, ensuring movements follow operating procedures and safety standards.

The position demands prior rail movements experience, a strong safety-first approach, and the ability to work 40 hours per week with standard hours 07:00-15:00 and occasional flexibility to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• Experience in rail operations within a private facility, depot or yard.
• Knowledge of rail operations across the wider UK rail network.
• Experience as Designated Person, Shunter, Driver or similar role involving rail movements.
• Understanding of Network Rail activities, standards and requirements.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow operational instructions accurately.
• Good computer literacy and safety-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Safely control and coordinate the movement of traction and rolling stock within the facility.
• Couple and uncouple rail vehicles, sets and units in line with procedures.
• Carry out shunting duties in line with safety standards and instructions.
• Aim to achieve competency as a Shunter and as a shunt vehicle driver.
• Follow rail operating procedures, safety requirements and site rules.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and relevant operational teams.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, risk awareness and compliance at all times.
