Job summary

Carmichael UK is recruiting a Section Engineer to join a portfolio of Access for All rail schemes across the North West. You will lead site engineering activities, coordinate setting-out teams and ensure works align with drawings, specifications and programmes.

The role focuses on lift shafts, platforms and bridges within high-profile Network Rail projects. You will produce ITPs and quality records, manage RFIs and NCRs, and uphold safety, QA and environmental standards on live rail sites.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Section Engineer on rail projects.
• Experience with station upgrades and AfA schemes.
• Strong knowledge of concrete and steel structures.
• Experience leading site engineering teams.
• Valid PTS, CSCS, SMSTS or SSSTS and full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate site engineering activities across multiple fronts.
• Supervise Site Engineers and Setting Out Engineers.
• Ensure works follow drawings, specs, and schedule.
• Produce and review ITPs, quality records and As-Built docs.
• Liaise with the Section Manager, Site Agent and Project Manager.
• Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers.
• Review drawings for design or construction issues.
• Support Temporary Works design briefs and implementation.
• Raise RFIs, TQs and NCRs.
• Ensure Network Rail standards and project quality compliance.
• Monitor progress and provide engineering input to planning.
• Promote health, safety and environmental compliance.
