Job summary

Hitachi Rail, headquartered in London, seeks an experienced Predictive Maintenance Engineer to drive CBM/RCM-enabled maintenance improvements. The role blends field operations with the maintenance organisation to cut downtime and optimise train reliability.

Hybrid work from our London HQ is offered, with emphasis on Python data science and prognostic development. Candidates should have an electrical/electronics background, Python/SQL skills, PowerBI, and CBM experience.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in electrical or electronics required.
• Railway domain experience preferred.
• Experience in Python, SQL, Pyspark, and versioning tools.
• Familiar with PowerBI dashboard development.
• Able to interpret electrical and software specifications (UML).
• Experience in CBM/RCM algorithms.
• Strong statistical analysis capabilities.
• Big data analysis and basic ML concepts.
• Knowledge of RCM methodology.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Health and safety awareness

Responsibilities

• Review and design train subsystems focusing on maintainability, availability, reliability and CBM applicability.
• Develop prognostic algorithms using data, signals/events and timing for maintenance.
• Implement CBM with Python, Pyspark and PowerBI across systems.
• Analyse diagnostics and maintenance data to improve reliability.
• Monitor prognostic system performance and identify trends.
• Support algorithm verification with simulations and historical data.
• Study vehicle FMECA/FMEA and maintenance plans.
• Support and participate in RCM design activities.
• Coordinate diagnostic interfaces and on-ground systems.
• Write and review maintenance procedures and train users on CBM
