Job summary

Porterbrook is seeking a Performance & Reliability Engineer to join our digital services team. You will analyse RCM outputs, translate data into actionable maintenance actions, and collaborate with customers and the supply chain to refine event detection algorithms.

You will develop customer use cases from RCM data, support the rollout of new digital products, and track KPIs to demonstrate value and justify future investments. A strong background in engineering and rail knowledge is expected.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of RCM systems and techniques to deliver asset performance benefits.
• Strong analytical skills to analyse large datasets and extract actionable insights.
• Excellent communication to translate technical terms for stakeholders.
• Experience developing business cases and evaluating investments.
• Experience launching new products or systems in a rail environment.
• Understanding of vehicle maintenance, overhaul and rail operations.

Responsibilities

• Analyse the output of Remote Condition Monitoring (RCM) systems and translate data into engineering actions across Porterbrook's assets.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and customers to implement maintenance interventions based on RCM data.
• Be the primary contact for customer interaction on day‑to‑day RCM data analysis and management.
• Support development of event detection algorithms with customers and supply chain partners.
• Create customer use cases from RCM outputs to drive adoption of digital technology.
• Assist in developing new digital products and services with the wider team.
• Develop and track KPIs to measure success of new digital products and justify future investments.
• Act as a subject matter expert on Porterbrook's digital systems and assist the team with technical queries.
• Work with IT on cyber security and compliance aspects when applying digital tech.
