Job summary

Hitachi Rail UK Limited in London seeks a skilled Predictive Maintenance Engineer to join our hybrid team. You will develop tools to improve maintenance workflows and reliability using CBM/RCM, data science, and Python-based prognostics.

Strong rail or manufacturing experience and data analysis skills are essential. You will collaborate with the maintenance organisation to reduce downtime, validate prognostic models, and integrate diagnostics with TCMS interfaces.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree required or equivalent.
  • Experience in railway domain or similar industry preferred.
  • Strong coding skills in Python and SQL with exposure to PySpark.

Responsibilities

  • Review and design main train subsystems focusing on maintainability, availability, reliability and CBM rule application.
  • Develop prognostic algorithms, based on logic, signals and operational data.
  • Implement prognostic algorithms using Python, PySpark and other technologies.
  • Analyse diagnostics and maintenance data to identify trends and improve reliability.
  • Study vehicle FMECA/FMEA and maintenance plans; support RCM design activities.

Based from our London HQ, working on a hybrid basis the experience Predictive Maintenance Engineer with be responsible for improving service quality and equipment reliability by developing tools and systems for improving workflows and optimising maintenance processes using suitable practices, Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Condition Base Maintenance (CBM) methodology and Data Science Techniques.The Predictive Maintenance Engineer will play a critical role in connecting field operations with the maintenance organisation, helping minimise downtime and failure rates and maximize train operation. The successful candidate ideally would come from either an Electronics or Software engineering background but must have strong experience coding in Python and expose/experience with data science technologies.Other key responsibilities include:Review and design main train subsystems with focus on maintainability, availability, reliability and CBM rule applicationDevelop prognostic algorithms, principles based on its logic, signals/events/operational information within related resolution and sampling timing and prescriptions for maintenanceImplement prognostic algorithms with different proprietary technologies and coding languages such a Pyspark , Python, PowerBIAnalyse diagnostics and maintenance dataMonitor prognostic system performances and statistical analysis on collected data to identify critical trends and conditions.Support prognostic algorithm verification and validation.
