Job summary

WSP is seeking a Technical Director for Mechanical Building Services in the UK rail domain. The role leads technical governance, quality, and strategy across the Rail MEP discipline, reporting into the UK Rail MEP Service Lead.

You will drive capability development, risk management, and innovation on major projects such as HS2, TfL, and Network Rail initiatives. You will influence design outputs, mentor engineers, and collaborate with clients and project teams to deliver robust engineering

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• A Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognised institution.
• Strong leadership and governance capabilities in rail/mechanical building services.
• Proven experience delivering designs through feasibility, outline and detailed stages.
• Extensive rail infrastructure experience including stations, depots, and related facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and governance across the discipline.
• Act as technical authority ensuring quality and consistency of outputs.
• Lead input on complex/high-profile projects and develop technical talent.
• Support clients, project teams, and leadership while championing best practice and decarbonisation.
