Job summary

IKOS GROUP in Midlands is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to provide hands-on support for the overhaul of rail bogies, wheelsets and mechanical components. You will work with production teams, customers and suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure safe, reliable delivery.

Candidates should have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least five years’ experience in rail or related mechanical roles, with strong technical communication and the ability to work independently in

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least five years’ mechanical engineering experience, preferably with rail bogies, bogie components or wheelsets.
• Experience of mechanical system specification, design, testing, maintenance and failure investigation, plus working in a production environment.
• Clear technical communication, sound judgement and the ability to take ownership and work independently.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office; mechanical CAD experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Produce and check overhaul specifications, work instructions, technical reports and engineering changes.
• Review and approve drawings, bills of materials and technical documentation.
• Investigate component failures, identify root causes and support product safety risk assessments.
• Resolve production queries, support tenders and liaise with customers and suppliers.
• Deliver accurate work to agreed deadlines, following safety, quality and engineering processes.
