Job summary

West Midlands Metro is hiring a Technical Documentation Author to support the integration of new network extensions into operations. You will create, manage and coordinate critical technical documentation across engineering, project delivery, operations and asset management to enable safe handover and operational readiness.

You will develop and maintain standards, procedures, maintenance manuals, SMS documentation, and asset integration procedures while ensuring controlled documentation and

Qualifications

• Experience in creating and managing technical documentation for regulated engineering environments.
• Proven ability to gather information from engineers, contractors and SMEs.
• Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and CDM Regulations is desirable.
• Experience with document control, version control and information governance.
• Experience in rail, light rail or infrastructure projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Produce, review, edit and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
• Gather information from engineers, contractors and SMEs.
• Develop clear maintenance, operational and engineering procedures.
• Coordinate document reviews, approvals and distribution processes.
• Manage document control and version control in SharePoint and management systems.
• Support handover, commissioning and operational readiness activities.
• Review contractor documentation for quality and compliance.
• Facilitate stakeholder workshops and documentation reviews.
• Improve documentation standards and information management processes.
