Job summary

RMS is seeking an experienced Materials and Maintenance Planning Manager to join the Technical Services team in the UK. You will work with the Technical Services Manager to ensure rail fleet maintenance compliance with plans, UK legislation, and industry standards, supervising in-house technicians and third‑party workshops, and recording all work in the CMMS.

You will develop stock control processes for UK wheelset stock, produce weekly reports, visit repair sites for audits, and forecast

Qualifications

• Education to A level or equivalent.
• Project management experience or training.
• Mechanical engineering background or strong interest.
• Supervisory experience is essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage UK wheelset stock and maintain records.
• Produce weekly wheelset stock reports.
• Visit repair sites to verify stock and perform audits.
• Analyse maintenance data to forecast needs.
• Develop and maintain maintenance planning reports.
• Attend weekly maintenance planning meetings.
• Monitor Out of Service reports and provide status updates.
• Chase progress on repairs and resolve issues.
• Share weekly maintenance plans with Technical Department.
• Review maintenance reports and resolve data errors.
• Maintain CRM maintenance records and prepare weekly staff planning reports.
• Support administration tasks including payroll and POs.
• Assist refurbishment and maintenance projects.
• Help prepare KPI reports, environmental returns and audit docs.
• Support fleet improvement and digitalisation projects.
