Job summary

Arriva TrainCare in Crewe is seeking a Fitter / Electrician to maintain rail vehicles to documented procedures. You will report to the Heavy Maintenance Team Leader from the Crewe depot, performing assigned tasks within timeframes and safety guidelines.

The role requires a Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, experience in rail vehicle maintenance, and the ability to read engineering drawings.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in rail vehicle maintenance activities.
• Good understanding of depot operations with ability to read engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Carry out work as allocated by the Team Leader / Heavy Maintenance Manager within set timescales and to recognised standards.
• Operate (drive) rail vehicles as required, within depot operating limits and in accordance with procedures.
• Ensure safety procedures and documents are adhered to per VMI & local instruction.
• Ensure work sheets are signed off promptly on completion of work.
• Adhere to Quality and Environmental procedures and work instructions.
• Attend technical, quality, safety and general briefings and take necessary actions.
• Undertake Safety Critical Work Regulations assessments under guidance of the Team Leader.
• Perform duties within level of competence as directed by Team Leader / Heavy Maintenance Manager.
• Maintain good housekeeping and cleanliness in the depot.
• Use PPE in accordance with Standards and Local Instructions.
• Assist to ensure Rolling Stock availability / reliability targets are met.
