Job summary

Network Rail Scotland is seeking an Environmental Specialist to provide expertise for the route and help integrate the environmental management system to deliver legislative compliance across depots, stations and projects. You will maintain records, liaise with environmental stakeholders, oversee surveillance and inspections, and monitor closeout of non-conformances.

The role offers a starting salary of £35,582 rising to £43,400 per annum and a clear career path within our safety‑conscious

Qualifications

  • Good understanding of UK and European environmental legislation and regulation.
  • Good understanding of environmental management system.
  • Knowledge of maintenance delivery process and techniques.
  • Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisation skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standard; membership of a professional body is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert support and guidance on all environmental matters to delivery legislative compliance.
  • Update and maintain environmental records and documentation to support the environment management system and emergency plans
  • Provide the focus for liaison arrangements with environmental stakeholders.
  • Produce and undertake a programme of surveillance and inspection checks.
  • Monitor closeout of environmental non-conformances.
