Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced CRE C or Senior Engineer to support a robust rail earthworks programme across Kent and Sussex. The role involves regular site visits, technical assurance, and delivering earthworks to rail standards.

The successful candidate will work in a hybrid model with Kent and Sussex projects, guided progression toward CRE C, and a strong focus on quality, safety and engineering governance.

Qualifications

• Relevant Civil Engineering qualification or equivalent engineering background.
• Rail earthworks/rail project experience.
• Experience operating as Senior Engineer, Section Engineer, or CRE C.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and standards.

Responsibilities

• Act as CRE (Construction) where competent and signed off.
• Take technical responsibility for construction engineering activities.
• Provide engineering assurance and quality control on site and for subcontractors.
• Ensure works align with designs, specifications and standards.
• Review Work Package Plans and risk assessments; support documentation.
• Coordinate inspections, testing and engineering checks throughout construction.
• Maintain construction and as-built records for project handback.
• Mentor and develop Site Engineers and junior engineers.
